NANCY BANNON performed for many years as a dancer with Doug Varone, Tere O'Connor and Lar Lubovitch and as an actor focusing mostly on the development of new work. She now creates her own interdisciplinary theater with consistent collaborators Brian MacDevitt, Ilona Somogyi and Darron West. Her most recent works are Cornfield, a wall-to-wall field of 7 feet- high corn in which the viewers hang out, and from which the characters emerge, originally presented by The Princess Grace Foundation and The Baryshnikov Arts Center, Puncture, an evening length performance piece presented by The Chocolate Factory and The Pod Project, an installation of private, one-on-one performances originally at 20 Greene Gallery. Nancy is the recipient of three Princess Grace Awards and a 2001 New York Dance and Performance (Bessie) Award.  She has served on the faculties of SUNY Purchase and Rutgers University, has taught independently throughout the U.S.(including Juilliard, NYU, Metropolitan Opera Ballet, et al) and participated in a Philip Johnson Glass House Conversation along with filmmaker Darren Aronofsky, poet Erin Belieu, graphic designer Paula Scher and others. Last spring, the 92nd St. Y presented her short play, Drinking Ink, A Portrait in Ten Parts, and in May, Transformer Gallery in Washington DC presented Cornfield, an event marked by the Washington Post as "Gallery Opening of the Week". This fall, Nancy performed in a DC production of Terrence McNally's "Lips Together, Teeth Apart". Nancy is a graduate of The Juilliard School.
