Jonathan King is an M.F.A. student in Directing at UCLA's School of Film, Theater and Television. As a storyteller, Jonathan excavates the history from which he was born in the coalmining hills of Southeastern Ohio and the lives set in this rural isolation. His work addresses the acute details of lives straining against an impossible bubble of poverty and inaccessibility. The radiance and creativity of the marginalized, hurt, and fringe dwellers those who have only shared in secret are embodied in his work. Jonathan is a Jacob K. Javits Fellow, an Edie and Lew Wasserman Film Production Fellow, and a Jack Nicholson Distinguished Student Director Awardee. He is producing a feature film for Rabbit Bandini Productions, in pre-production for his thesis film All Rising Converge, and finishing his first feature screenplay.
