Trey Lyford
Initial PGF Award: Theater Scholarship, 2000
Trey Lyford has performed his original work extensively both nationally and internationally. He is the Co-Artistic Director of rainpan 43 performance group (www.rainpan43.org) and an Associate Artist with the Obie-Award winning company The Civilians. His two-man clown show -all wear bowlers- received a Drama Desk Nomination for Unique Theatrical Event as well as a NY Innovative Theatre Award for Best Performance Art. In addition to R43 and The Civilians, Trey has created original works with the Joe Goode Performance Group and Pig Iron Theatre Company. He has appeared at La Jolla Playhouse, Berkeley Rep, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, Folger Shakespeare Theatre, Center Theatre Group, HBO Aspen Comedy Festival, The Sydney Opera House and the Barbican Centre as part of the London International Mime Festival. He has made several short films and performed in the Disney Channel Pilot The Funny Show.
Trey Lyford has taught Masterclass workshops all over the world as well as courses at the University of California, San Diego, University of Minnesota and Princeton University as an Atelier Artist-in-Residence. He has an MFA from UCSD and has also trained with clown masters Bill Irwin, David Shiner, Ami Hattab and Giovanni Fussetti. Current Projects include a NY production of the rube-goldberg inspired - machines machines machines machines machines machines machines- and a piece commissioned by LA’s Center Theatre Group based on Magicians.
