Spenser Theberge
Initial PGF Award: Ballet Scholarship, 2008
Born in Portland, Oregon, Spenser Theberge began his dance training at the age of 9 with Columbia Dance in Vancouver, Washington. A graduate of the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics, Spenser is also a NFAA youngARTS winner and a Presidential Scholar in the Arts. In 2009, Spenser received his B.F.A. from the Juilliard School, under the direction of Lawrence Rhodes and the mentorship of its illustrious faculty. Presently, Spenser is a dancer with Nederlands Dans Theater 2, performing in works by Jiri Kylian, Ohad Naharin, and Hans van Manen, including creations with Lightfoot Leon, Johan Inger, and Alexander Ekman. Spenser is also an avid choreographer and always looking for the next opportunity to create. Ultimately, he hopes to help establish a more relevant position for art and dance in our society.
