Miwa Matreyek is an animator/director and multi-media artist who creates animated short films as well as solo and collaborative performance works that integrate animation and live performance using projections. She finds the juxtaposition of animation and body - manipulated time vs. real time, composed space vs. real space - to create a multi-layered visual experience where the real becomes surreal and the fantastical becomes physical . She is a recipient of the 2006 Princess Grace Award for Film, and the 2008 Princess Grace Special Projects grant for Film. Her solo performance work, Dreaming of Lucid Living has been shown most recently at the San Francisco Film Festival and the RedCat in Los Angeles, and won the Student Grand Prix and Audience Choice Award for Best Installation at the Platform International Animation Festival, 2007. www.semihemisphere.com www.cloudeyecontrol.com.
