Maru Buendia-Senties Princess Grace Award Recipient (2007)obtained her MFA in Film Production at the University of Texas at Austin in December 2008, currently working at Troublemaker Studios as On-Set VFX Coordinator and Digital Compositor. She is dedicated to making films that communicate her cultural heritage and explore the interaction of culturally diverse societies as she portras deep interpersonal connections and unique idiosyncrasies that connect us all as humans.
She was awarded 1st place narrative for “Last Interview” in 2005 at the Binational Independent Chamizal Film Festival, 1st place documentary for “100 meals” at the COMBO Film . Her short “La Pared”, included the performances of renowned actors Joaquin Cosio, Roberto Sosa and Perla de la Rosa , which was screened at the Hollywood Showcase and L.A. International Shorts Fest, won 1st place at the Cibola Film Festival 2007, International Border Film Festival 2008, and 2nd International Short Festival in Chihuahua. Her latest film “Entre Lineas” was shot in the border cities of Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico and El Paso, Texas, USA. “Entre Lineas” was an official selection of the SXSW Film Festival,13 Latin American Showcase of Film in Lima, Monterrey’s International Film Festival - Border to Border - Nominated for Best Mexican Short Film, VI Women’s International Showcase in Film and TV Mexico in 2009, and won Best Screenplay at the BHLIFE Festival in L.A. 2010.
