Heather Brown
Initial PGF Award: Film Honorarium, 2007
Heather Brown was born in Kansas City. She began college at the School at the Art Institute of Chicago and received her BFA with an emphasis in film and video from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2008. Brown works with photography, film and video. Her photographic works have been displayed at the La Esquina Gallery in Kansas City, MO and at the Photokina Exhibit in Cologne, Germany. Her films and videos have been featured at Media Discharge and the Deren Gallery in Kansas City and at the Siragusa Gallery at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Most recently, Forty First St., an animated short film, earned first place in the experimental category at the Winnipeg International Film Festival. Brown has worked on the set of Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg and was a research assistant for Scott Frank’s The Lookout. Lately, she has been exploring communication and social distance through dialogue and camera proximity.
